Rubicon Minerals Corporation values its relationships with stakeholders and partnerships in the Red Lake community. The Company is committed to nurturing and strengthening these relationships through open communications, continuous engagement, and by supporting local initiatives.

Aboriginal Communities

Rubicon management endeavours to responsibly develop and operate projects that meet high economic, environmental and social standards. We respect and value the communities that neighbour our projects, and recognize the unique status of Aboriginal people as the original members of those communities. Whenever our operations might affect an Aboriginal community, Rubicon seeks to develop enduring relationships with those communities built upon trust and respect. Rubicon is proud of its strong history of consultation with the local Aboriginal Communities and is committed to continued consultation over the life of the Phoenix Gold Project.

In February 2018, the Rubicon team visited the Lac Seul First Nation community near Sioux Lookout, Ontario. Members of the Lac Seul First presented Rubicon with a gift to symbolize the relationship that the Company has built over the years.

Red Lake Community Information Session

Every year, Rubicon hosts an information session for the members of the Red Lake community to provide an update on the Company’s activities and give the community members an opportunity to interact with the Rubicon team. In February 2018 at the Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre, Rubicon President and CEO George Ogilvie, P.Eng., updated the community on the project at the Phoenix Gold Project. More than 70 community members were in attendance.

Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial (“MCM”) Hospital Foundation

The Red Lake MCM Hospital provides a wide range of vital health services and programs to the Red Lake community. In June 2017, Rubicon participated in the annual Red Lake MCM Hospital Foundation Golf Tournament to support the hospital in upgrading and modernizing some of its diagnostic equipment.  The Company donated C$2,500 towards the Red Lake MCM Hospital Foundation.

2017 Student Site Visit

Rubicon believes in supporting and educating the youth in the Red Lake community to create a greater awareness of the mining industry and its practices in the region. In May 2017, a group of students from the Red Lake District High School visited the Phoenix Gold Project and toured the various facets of the Company’s exploration activities at site.
